Every time I take a look at Lolita Wolf’s site, LeatherYenta or her FetLife profile – I find myself smiling: she’s hot, she’s gorgeous, a serious perv with a seriously pervy blog – and when she’s photographed smiling she seems joyous and invincible. One part Emma Goldman, two parts Vampire Slayer (or two parts Kara Thrace; substitute whatever metaphor works for you. If you need me to explain pop culture references then we’re in a lot of trouble).
Her report about a favorable ruling in a Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) case, however, was simply “DOMA is going to bite the dust,” citing this LA Times article.
The lawyer in me (yes, once it gets in, they’re really hard to remove) says – this ruling isn’t on constitutional grounds – and if it were – the oldest and ailing Justices are not Bush appointees.There’s an argument to be made that this optimism is excessive.
However, on reflection, I’m not going to make it. I’ll say instead that this political battle is not over, we are starting to win it – to paraphrase Churchill, we’re past the end of the beginning – we’re at the very beginning of the end for DOMA and other sexually repressive statutes.
Also, who am I to disagree with the Leather Yenta? (such a catch! Oy!)

Ms. Wolf is the real deal. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for a number of years and while we do not see eye to eye on every issue, she is real, she is funny, and she is hot.
It’s all understatement.
